Biography

     

  • Born and raised in Port Elizabeth, South Africa

  • Undergraduate and graduate studies in Geology and Chemistry at Rhodes University

  • 35-Year career in the mining industry as an economic hard-rock geologist, both working in the field as well as founding and building new, publically traded companies

  • Transferred to Canada with family in 1982

  • Travelled extensively on business and pleasure, often to remote wilderness areas of the world

  • Became interested in NATURE at a very early age as a keen birder and bird-egg collector

  • Fostered this interest whilst working as a field geologist in pristine locations – have always been a strong advocate of sustainable environmental practise and responsible stewardship within industry

  • Proud co-founder, with John McKenzie, of the Nanoose Naturalists Club in 2002.
